FN + F5 didn't work but your suggestion did. More about the author Still in the first screen of Windows setup I hit fn-f5 and then the pointer became responsive. The USB keyboard didn't work but the USB mouse did. As someone else mentioned, this problem has been occurring since 2010 so hopefully Toshiba will fix it soon! This thread helped me fix the problem temporarily (until I ran Windows Update), but then it recurred. I found the solution here http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSD0702ZR0000R01.htm point 5 of the touchpad troubleshooting guide. go to task manager...
